About the role Port Marlborough is in a continued period of growth and due to an internal promotion, they now have an excellent opportunity for an experienced trades person with leadership nous to proactively and efficiently lead the mechanical team to safely deliver quality outcomes.
Port Marlborough’s workshop team deliver asset maintenance, inspection, repair and construction services to the Port and Marina operations through three trades-based teams. The mechanical team provides quality maintenance and repair services to wharves, marinas, building and associated facilities. They also undertake scheduled inspections of mechanical infrastructure and plant. Reporting to the Workshop Manager, the Mechanical Lead coordinates and leads delivery of these outputs while also taking a hands-on role, particularly in relation to fitter, welder, turner and mechanical engineering duties.
About you To succeed in this role you’ll have practical skills, an adaptable and positive interpersonal style and the proven ability to deliver outputs efficiently through your team. You’ll build strong and respectful relationships to work positively across the organisation and with external contractors and stakeholders and will be adept at motivating and developing teams to succeed.
The role requires a relevant engineering trade qualification or equivalent experience. A clean driver’s licence, heavy trade, and forklift are also important. Strong understanding and leadership of health and safety will be fundamental to the way you work with your team every day.
This role has an on-call component and also contributes to the Port Ship’s lines team as required.
