About the role | Mō te tūranga
Our Wairarapa Laboratory is currently looking for dedicated, enthusiastic and competent Medical Laboratory Technician. This is a permanent, full-time position of 80 hour per fortnight.

In this role, you will support the daily operations of the laboratory by performing a range of essential tasks. Attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and a commitment to quality service are key to your success.

Key responsibilities include:

• Barcoding, receipting, and preparing specimens as they arrive at the laboratory.


• Entering patient and test details accurately into the system.


• Answering telephones and handling enquiries professionally.


• Work well under pressure and manage competing priorities.


• Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and a high degree of accuracy.


• Be willing to learn new skills and adapt to changing procedures.


• Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.


• Maintain a friendly, customer-focused approach at all times.


• Show initiative and be self-sufficient in your day-to-day tasks.

About you | He kōrero mōu
To be successful in this role you need to have:

• Registration with Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand and a current Annual or Interim Practicing Certificate.


• A sound knowledge of laboratory operations including, safety, quality assurance processes, operation of equipment and hands-on practical experience


• A team focus with initiative, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and possess the ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment


• The ability to work in a methodical manner adhering to strict quality procedure guidelines.


• Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
