Purpose of the role:

Provide high-quality and efficient medical writing services and excellence in customer service, to support the Springer Health+ Scientific Services business

Key tasks:

Independently deliver high-quality editorial services across a broad range of custom project types with minimal support from other Scientific Services, Medical Writing NZ staff

  • To write and edit scientific content for a range of medical communications for various audiences, according to client needs, deadline, budget and internal quality standards, as directed by the senior scientific services team
  • Independently evaluate project briefs and project needs
  • Plan delivery and communication to ensure customer needs are met to the highest possible level within budget and within deadlines
  • Liaise effectively with key stakeholders to ensure content, deadline and budget needs are met
  • Work at a high level of independence and autonomy

Contribute to effective delivery of Scientific Services, Medical Writing NZ group workflow and business requirements as a whole through effective teamwork and collaboration

  • Build and/or maintain effective working relationships and communication with all members of the Scientific Services, Medical Writing NZ team
  • Take part in formal or informal discussions to ensure optimal delivery of daily workflow and ongoing process improvement
  • Contribute feedback, ideas and suggestions and take on support tasks to help drive effective business performance and delivery of group targets

Ensure personal utilisation targets (set by your manager and/or overseas management) are met

  • Record and monitor actual time spent on projects against budgeted time, and complete timesheets in an accurate and timely manner
  • Ongoing weekly and monthly self-review of utilization rates
  • Identify barriers or problems and take action to mitigate
  • Manage non-chargeable time to ensure utilization targets are met

Actively support excellence in customer service and delivery

  • Anticipate customer needs and issues that have not been specifically defined or prescribed
  • Decisions, actions and communications align with business/commercial and customer needs support the group as a whole in striving to deliver the best possible customer service

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Develops good relationships with team and contact people in other Springer offices
  • Produces work that conforms to brief and customer expectations, within budgeted hours and deadlines
  • Demonstrates ability to accept feedback, and incorporate feedback into future projects
  • Works well under pressure and in changeable environments

Key relationships:

  • Scientific Services, Medical Writing NZ team and manager
  • Writers, salespeople, account and project managers in other Springer Health+ offices

Qualifications and Experience:

Education: Degree level (life science, pharmacy, pharmacology or medicine)

Experience:  Minimum of 1 plus years MedComms medical writing experience desired

Ideal skills and experience profile:

  • Proven high level capability and autonomy with experience across a broad range of project types and business needs
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage and deliver most projects, with minimal additional briefing, to efficiently assess what is needed and make the right decisions.
  • Ability and motivation to anticipate customer needs and go the extra mile to deliver on time within budget
