Job Description - Mental Health Practitioner - Rapid Progression

Mental Health Practitioner

Does being part of a team, whose mission is to have a positive impact on the hauora of WITT’s ākonga and kaimahi, interest you? 

We are looking for a social worker, counsellor, or health improvement practitioner to join our multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the wellbeing of our students (ākonga) and staff (kaimahi). 

We aim to offer a range of holistic reactive and proactive mental health supports for our ākonga and as part of the team delivering these services, you will be able to offer suggestions and implement new initiatives.  

The role is based in New Plymouth and is a full-time position (37.5 hrs per wk), although we are open to applicants who might want to do this on a part-time basis. 

This will, at least initially, be a fixed term position until December 2024 due to Te Whatu Ora funding.

About you:

To be successful in this role it is essential you: 

  • Have a related qualification and current practicing certificate
  • Have facilitation experience
  • Have a minimum of five years experience working within the area of  mental health
  • Are adaptable and flexible with a can-do attitude
  • Are well organised with excellent time management skills
  • Are confident working in a culturally responsive way with a diverse clientele
