Metrology Technician - Career Growth Potential

We are looking for a person who is interested in joining our scale team to learn about the weighing industry and the different aspects within our roles from software & IT systems to the repairs and testing of different weighing systems.

Sensortronic Scale Industries (NZ) Ltd has a vacancy for a Scale Technician to be based at our Auckland branch and will operate across the Auckland region.  Work may be required at times in Northland and Waikato regions.  Overnight stays maybe necessary if working outside Auckland region, accommodation is provided and paid for when overnight stays are required outside of Auckland.  A normal working week is 40 hours Monday to Friday but there will be jobs requiring overtime and weekend work.  Pay rate will be negotiable depending on experience and qualifications

The Sensortronic Group of companies have been in the weighing industry for over 40 years and are locally owned and operated.  We have branches in Auckland, Hamilton, Whangarei, Palmerston North, Nelson and Christchurch and our technicians operate from Northland right through to the Canterbury region.

The scope of our work varies from the smallest lab balances working in milligrams through to heavy industrial plant of 100 ton and over.  Our job takes us into a variety of industries and locations creating variety in our roles.

Sensortronic holds IANZ accreditation ISO17025:2017 and is an Accredited Person with Trading Standards (MBIE) under the Weights and Measures Act & Regulations testing trade approved weighing equipment. 

The specific duties for the role include (but are not limited) to the following:

• Carrying out the maintenance, servicing and repairs of weighing equipment
• Assembling weighing equipment and components in-house or on-site
• Installing weighing equipment at customers sites
• Inspecting and testing equipment for accuracy
• Generating testing documentation for clients
• Obtaining Accreditation with Trading Standards
• Options to work with IT/Software roles 

Skills and Experience Required

• This job is open to both experienced and trainees
• On job training will be provided for successful trainee 
• Class 1 licence required
• Electrical knowledge & experience a benefit
• IT knowledge & experience a benefit
