Who We Are

Opes Mortgages is a high-performance team of Mortgage Advisors working within the Opes Group umbrella. (You might know Opes Partners for their very popular podcast on property investment).

We’re a company that puts the team above all else and in doing so, expect the client’s experience to be at the forefront of everything we do. This is your opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking, dynamic team in growth mode, assisting property buyers to achieve their financial goals through property investment.

What’s in it for you:

  • Join a growing company that's going places.
  • Most important: join a culture that’s second to none!
  • Training and the tools that you need to succeed within the role (learn alongside other excellent advisers).
  • Support from a friendly team within a lively environment with plenty of activity.
  • Great salary + performance bonus and beautiful offices in the CBD.
  • In-house compliance team to help take away the headaches.
  • No lead gen required! We book clients into your diary.

About the role:

From first home buyers through to investors, our expert Mortgage Advisors are committed to helping their clients meet their property and financial goals.

As part of our successful team, you’ll be providing our clients with expert financial advice, guidance, and solutions, ensuring they make informed decisions when purchasing or refinancing a property.

Your extensive knowledge of the mortgage market, regulations, and products will be instrumental in guiding clients through the mortgage process, securing the best possible mortgage terms and rates for their specific circumstances.

What we need from you:

To be successful you will be self-motivated with a strong work ethic. This opportunity will suit someone who is adaptable and comfortable working in fast-paced, dynamic team, with excellent planning and organisation skills. Your ability to talk easily to clients, complete the admin, and control a full end to end service without admin support means that you’ll never miss a beat with your deals or compliance. (Did we mention that doing the right thing by clients and compliance is super important to us?). The time sensitive nature of our processes means that your ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, use your initiative, as well as strong attention to detail will enable you to succeed in this role.

Targets: Alongside meeting a range of KPI’s regarding compliance, client feedback (NPS) and conduct, we expect the successful candidate to be able to write and settle $50 million in lending per year.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 2 year’s experience in a Financial Advisor (Mortgage / Senior Banker) role essential.
  • In-depth knowledge of mortgage products, industry regulations, and lending practices.
  • Relevant certifications (FSC Level 5 - Lending) essential.
  • Compliance is very, very important to us and you should know how to follow the 6-steps of providing financial advice and be motivated to do the right thing for your clients.
  • Strong understanding of financial analysis, credit assessment, and affordability calculations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and concisely. (Meetings are primarily over Teams).
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining client relationships, with a customer-centric approach.
  • Ability to create and maintain rapport with BDM’s and other professionals across the industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently without admin support, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment (if you enjoy the chase and are determined, this one’s for you).
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in mortgage software, CRM systems, and other relevant technology.
  • Given the nature of our work, you must possess the ability to maintain the utmost discretion and confidentiality at all times.
  • Our culture is of utmost importance and we all enjoy the people we work with! You must be hardworking, friendly and a team player too.
  • Have ability to work from our inner city offices during normal business hours weekdays (8.30am-5pm).

Applicants for this position should:

  • be a Permanent Resident or be a New Zealand Citizen.
  • have their Level 5 NZ Certificate in Lending (if you don't have this, you won't be considered, sorry!).

To apply for this opportunity, please submit your cover letter and CV to Eleanor Grimshaw by clicking the ‘Apply’ button.  Please be patient as we process applications! We get a lot and it can take a while to read through them all.
