Job Description - Network Engineer


  • Help manage one of NZ’s largest networks, supporting 25% of the country’s daytime business internet traffic

  • Get hands-on with diverse technologies in a complex, multi-vendor environment.

  • 21 Month Fixed Term Contract

The role: 


As a Network Engineer within our Customer Operations team, you’ll be the bridge between complex tech and great educational outcomes. You will:



  • Design and Optimise: Provide consultancy and design for network changes and upgrades to ensure peak performance.

  • Problem Solve: Manage incidents and provide technical leadership during major events to get things back to normal faster.

  • Empower Others: Translate technical "speak" into simple, actionable advice for school staff and internal teams.

  • Hands-on Impact: From firewall proactive monitoring and wireless optimization to visiting school sites when a personal touch is needed, you’ll be deeply involved in the network's health.



About you: 


As a Network Engineer you will enjoy developing relationships with Schools, ICT providers and selected vendors.  You thrive on working collaboratively with the wider Customer and Product teams to escalate issues and risks where required, and you are a natural partner to the wider Customer Operations department. What you will need to be successful:  



  • Comprehensive understanding of switching, routing, wireless, firewalls, and ONT.

  • Experience with Cisco, Fortinet, or Palo Alto, and Ruckus networking products.

  • At least five years of experience troubleshooting in a customer-facing environment.

  • While we value experience, a CCNP, NSE 7, or PCNSE qualification is highly desirable.
