You’ll play a key role in analysing network performance, planning for growth and electrification and supporting resilient, future‑ready electricity infrastructure for our region

About the role

As a Networks Engineer, you’ll contribute to the planning, performance and resilience of our electricity network. Your work will inform asset management planning, customer connections and investment decisions as technology, demand and energy use continue to evolve.

  • Contribute to network modelling using DigSILENT PowerFactory

  • Undertake network security, capacity and resilience studies

  • Develop clear, well‑structured business cases and project scopes

  • Support Asset Management Plan (AMP) inputs and regulatory submissions

  • Participate in cross‑business improvement projects and digital initiatives

  • Embed health and safety and “safety in design” principles in all work

About you

You’ll be an engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and translating analysis into practical outcomes. You’re curious about how networks are changing and motivated to keep learning.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering (or similar), with power systems exposure

  • Experience in electricity distribution, asset management or strategic engineering

  • Strong analytical, modelling and problem‑solving skills

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

  • The ability to build effective relationships across teams

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience with PowerFactory, Power BI or Python

  • Understanding of EVs, distributed generation and electrification trends

  • Engineering New Zealand membership or professional registration
