Job Description - New Zealand: Local Unit Analyst

Description

The Finance and Records Department (FRD) is seeking to appoint a Local Unit Analyst to support local unit leaders and clerks in financial administration, membership record keeping, training, and advisory services. This role helps ensure local unit records and financial transactions are accurate, compliant with Church policies, and submitted in a timely manner. This is a permanent full-time position based at the Pacific Area Office reporting to the Area Local Unit Manager.



Responsibilities
  • Deliver training and guidance to local unit leaders and clerks on financial principles, record-keeping policies, and operating procedures

  • Support finance and membership audits, including issue resolution and follow-up actions

  • Prepare area and regional statistical, analytical, and trend reports to support informed decision-making 

  • Identify opportunities to improve local unit financial and record-keeping processes

  • Participate in business solution and process improvement projects that support local unit needs 

  • Assist local leaders with unit organisation applications and specialised local unit support matters 

  • Provide advanced support for local unit issues that require escalation beyond standard service channels 



Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline

  • 6 years of professional experience in business, accounting, finance, administration, or a related field

  • Higher qualifications or professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, MBA, or equivalent (preferred)

  • Strong analytical, planning, reporting, and presentation skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including fluency in English

  • Demonstrated ability to train, influence, and motivate others through effective interpersonal skills 

  • Proficiency in computer applications, data analysis, and troubleshooting 

  • Working knowledge of Church financial policies, processes, and tools

  • Understanding of local unit record-keeping policies, systems, and procedures 

  • Experience with Church governance, policy, and doctrine, preferably through ecclesiastical leadership service

  • Experience with local unit finance and record-keeping systems (preferred)

  • Proof of legal right to work in New Zealand

  • A police background check may be required
