Overall Purpose of the Job:

The position of Branch Manager is accountable for all aspects of safety, performance, resourcing and team leadership for the assigned Team Global Express operational branch. This includes overseeing all activities and resources associated with branch operations in order to achieve agreed objectives, proactively optimising profitability and business efficiency with a strong customer focus (DIFOT), in a safe and engaging manner.

Critical to this role is the ability to display strong leadership, strategically plan and coordinate daily activities and hold team members to account. This position is accountable for achieving daily KPI’s and identifying / actioning process improvements, budget management and cost control (P&L) as well as managing Industrial Relations matters and Union relationships at local branch level.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Implement and oversee operational plans to ensure performance targets and branch KPIs are achieved and provide recommendations for improvement to ensure financial budgetary requirements are met

  • Collate, analyse and communicate operational statistics of the branch, focusing on service performance, operational shortfalls and distribution levels

  • Achieve best practice benchmarks for operational excellence of sortation processes and fleet productivity by managing resources to maximise the overall efficiency of the operations

  • Ensure customer focus is present in all activities undertaken by the team, at all times considering the impact on customer service delivery in decision-making

  • Proactively lead the team/workgroup by setting and maintaining work standards and behaviours, holding team members to account

  • Display a customer centric approach and through Continuous Improvement achieve more efficient ways of working, increasing productivity and ensuring safety

  • Control operational workflow of the branch, at all times ensuring Standard Operating Procedures are followed and meet timeframes, productivity levels and other KPIs as set by Operational Management

  • Provide direction and advice to Operations Managers regarding sound and timely decisions on day-to-day operational matters for the branch

  • Lead the coordination and deployment of resources (labour, equipment) across the branch to ensure operational, productivity, commercial, and customer requirements are met

  • Effectively manage labour costs (eg. hours of work and approval of time for team members), ensuring that labour is managed within budget requirements and productivity is optimised

  • Lead the labour planning/availability, RDO/Annual leave rosters and absenteeism statistics for the team, and provide guidance/ support to Operations Managers regarding appropriate in order to mitigate potential shortfalls

  • Implement and maintain specific contractor and supplier policies and procedures to ensure consistency of service against TGE’s service standards

  • Manage the Industrial Relations and performance within the site to ensure a fair and consistent workplace where all employees comply with their job requirements

  • Comply with the reporting requirements for Team Global Express and customers ensuring timeliness and accuracy

  • Develop and oversee effective pallet management processes ensuring they are applied across the branch, including driver education and appropriate performance management of driver pallet responsibilities

  • Develop operational expertise within the team by providing training and development opportunities and on-the-job coaching for individual employees to ensure optimum

  • Provide regular constructive feedback to direct team, including undertaking regular safety conversation and applying effective recognition practices

  • Enforce roll out of toolbox sessions within branch as required, leading discussion where appropriate

  • Work collaboratively with key internal stakeholders (other Supervisors and Managers) to ensure expectations and plans are delivered
