We are looking for a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT) to provide Diagnostic Positron Emission Tomography (PET).
  
Your work day will include;
  • Performing a wide range of diagnostic PET procedures and provisioning high-quality data
  • Performing examinations for clinical indications with efficient use of departmental resources, appropriate computerised scan data manipulation and clear and accurate labelling of data
  • Reviewing appropriateness of imaging requests and initiate discussion with the Radiologist or Charge NMT where needed
  • Implementation of ALARA principles to achieve optimal diagnostic results by selection of appropriate imaging equipment, accessories and technical factors.
  • Ability to perform IV cannulation.
  • Ensuring all documentation is maintained and ensuring quality control is carried out according to protocols and guidelines
  • Maintenance of professional levels of patient care and compliance with moral and ethical codes. Provide clear communication to patients and support people, keeping them informed of process, and liaise with wards and other departmental staff as required.
  • Ensuring each examination is accurately entered and completed into COMRAD and PACS
  • Ordering, receiving, checking and managing incoming or outgoing radiopharmaceuticals. Preparing and recording individual patient doses using aseptic techniques.
  • Completing monitoring, decontamination and disposal of radioactive waste in a timely manner (under direction of CSP3) under compliance with legislation, PRG policies and procedures.
  • Performing radiopharmaceutical and hot lab quality control procedures.  
Knowledge and skills desired:
  • Competence in conducting a full range of both routine and complex procedures in PETCT.
  • Significant degree of initiative and scientific interest.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently.
  • Capable of exercising mature judgement in respect of performance, appraisal and allocation of duties.
  • Working knowledge of the practical and legislative requirements of a Nuclear Medicine and PETCT practice.
Additional CT Scope of practice is advantageous.
  
Please note, appointment to this position will be conditional on a satisfactory Police vetting and risk assessment as per the Children’s Act 2014.
