Nursery Supervisor

With over 30 years experience, Genesis Nurseries is one of the country’s leading tree nurseries, holding market leading access to exclusive plant variety rights in apples, cherries, pears and summer fruits. With continual improvement of both varieties and science, we are dedicated to supporting our customers to grow New Zealand’s horticulture industry.   

We currently have a position for a Nursery Supervisor to join our Hawke’s Bay team.  This role will work alongside and support our nursery and operations team to ensure that our trees are grown to the highest quality.    

Key tasks will include:

• Coordinating and supervising daily nursery activities
• Managing performance of field workers
• Overseeing quality control including tree counts, grading and identifying pest & diseases
• Maintaining a safe working environment by implementing H&S procedures
• Keeping up to date with new practices, technology and nursery techniques
• Knowledge across crop protection, machinery and chemical spraying 

To be successful in the role you will need:

• Previous experience in the horticulture industry, ideally in a nursery or orchard environment. 
• Experience safely operating tractors, forklifts and other machinery
• Current GrowSafe certificate would be advantageous
• Proven leadership ability and experience managing small teams
• Strong communication skills and the ability to relate to a wide range of people
• Good time management and organisation skills.

Remuneration will be aligned to your skills and experience.  
Our wage band for this role is $31.00 to $36.00 per hour, gross.   
The usual hours of work will be Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 4.00pm.   
You will be guaranteed a minimum of 40 hours per week, but in peak work periods there is an expectation that you will work more than 40 hours, with some Saturdays included.
