Job Description - Operations Manager

Tongariro Lodge is one of the most iconic fishing lodges in New Zealand and renowned for its cuisine, accommodation, guided fly fishing and a variety of outdoor activities. 

Tongariro Lodge was established in 1982 and has earned an excellent international reputation for providing guests personal hosting, superb customer service, excellent dining and accommodation, quality outdoor activities and the best fly-fishing in New Zealand.

We are in search of a proactive Operations Manager to guide our hospitality team and enhance guests’ experience, this is a Full-Time salary position with onsite accommodation included. 

You will work in a supportive and fun team environment, where we are committed to supporting you to continue your development.

Skills and Experience

  • The role focuses on the day-day operations for Reception, F&B and Accommodation, is extremely hands on and requires day and night time availability which will include split shifts as well as Manager On Duty Shifts.
  • Previous experience in FOH and reception is essential.
  • Current Duty Managers Certificate preferred.
  • The successful candidate will be able to multitask and work in other departments when needed, work on a rostered basis across weekdays and weekends and be available to work Public Holidays.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to lead and influence a team.
  • Solid time management, problem solving skills and an ability to think on your feet is essential.

 Job Description

  • Extremely hands-on position, the successful candidate would be working with and managing a small team.
  • Provide excellent communication skills and the ability to host and converse with guests from throughout the world. 
  • Provide a great attitude towards team members and a fun, professional environment.
  • Attend to guest queries and feedback.
  • Allocate duties, coordinate staff.
  • Provide first class service across all departments.
  • Accurate billing and cash-up procedures reception shift operations, such as: reservations, guest arrival, departure, invoicing, payment processing.
  • Working closely with our General Manager – while also occasionally acting in their absence. 
  • Handle guest inquiries, requests, and complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Assist in the full training and induction of staff according to company procedures.
  • Ensure efficient operation of all hospitality departments.
