Job Description - Operations Manager - Hiring Urgently

We are hiring a resilient Operations Manager to join our all-star team at Bach Stay NZ Limited in Mangawhai, Northland.
Growing your career as a Full time Operations Manager is a terrific opportunity to develop important skills.
If you are strong in teamwork, decision-making and have the right mindset for the job, then apply for the position of Operations Manager at Bach Stay NZ Limited today!

Bach Stay NZ Ltd is a small family business managing bach and holiday home rentals in Mangawhai, an hour and a half north of Auckland. This vibrant and growing town with surf beach and estuary offers a great lifestyle for those who love the outdoors.

We are seeking a full-time Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the business. As we are a very small business it is a very hands on role covering all aspects of the business, so you must be prepared to do whatever is needed to keep things running smoothly. It is a job that is varied and rewarding, and we aim to provide an environment that is safe, fun and promotes growing your career. The hospitality nature of the role also requires someone that is adaptable and flexible to help us meet our guests’ needs.

Our current Operations Manager is moving to Christchurch and so this role is available for an immediate start.

Key Responsibilities are:

  • Managing all aspects of the Booking process in our booking software (Newbook) and across other booking platforms (Airbnb, VRBO, etc)
  • Managing the email traffic through our main Bach Stay email
  • Property pre-Arrival & departure checks
  • Guest liaison and support
  • General administration duties

  • Supervising & mentoring Staff
  • Managing communicating with owners

The ideal candidate will be an outgoing, all-rounder, who thrives on providing a great customer experience. Ideally you should have previous experience in a hospitality environment but most important are the right skills. We will train you in all aspects of the role so previous experience in a similar role is definitely advantageous but is by no means essential.

We are looking for an individual who knows what great customer service is and has a strong worth ethic and can-do attitude. You will need to have a flexible approach, as the work hours can be variable depending on seasonality and guest numbers but in turn there is flexibility in what we can offer. You will be working in the field and also from home, so you need to be a self-starter in both environments.

You will work to a set fortnightly roster as follows:

Week 1 - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday

NB: Saturday/Sunday in most cases are only part days dealing with emails and providing support (mainly by phone) to the staff member on duty.

Week 2 – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

You also need to be prepared to carry the work mobile and take calls or assist guests from 8am to 9pm on weekdays when other staff are not rostered on (usually 2-3 days each week).

Key Skills we are seeking are:

  • Strong operations/scheduling skills
  • Excellent administration skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow detailed processes accurately
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Proven experience leading other staff
  • Strong time & work management skills
  • Strong problem-solving ability and practical skills
  • Honesty, Trustworthiness, and Integrity

  • Earn a competitive salary
  • A car for work use (includes driving to and from work)
  • Live in a beautiful location and enjoy a great lifestyle
  • Develop your career in a growing tourism-based business

If you feel like this would be a great match for your skills and experience, we’d love to hear from you. To apply, please send a covering letter outlining your suitability for this role along with your current CV. For any queries about the role please email  [email protected] .
