Salary Band C – $130,566 - $194,820 + KiwiSaver

About the Role



  • Close-knit team that consists of Specialists, Trainees, and those not yet on the training programme

  • Your main responsibilities will be ensuring the acute stream of patients are seen and assessed – this enables you to become confident with a wide variety of ophthalmic conditions and the opportunities on offer are immense

  • You will also be assisting with some injections, and hopefully get some time in our new, purpose- built eye theatre, which is off site from the main hospital, but very close by

  • The ability to extend your skills and knowledge base are fantastic

  • Great support for educational needs, including weekly teaching, case discussions, journal clubs, and peer review sessions

  • The department has a strong academic presence, opportunities for successful candidates will be far and wide, and will involve the ability to undertake research as part of training

About you


Our ideal candidate will have:



  • Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.  You can check your eligibility for registration by visiting the Council’s website at MCNZ

  • A minimum of 2 years post qualification experience and are interested in RMO’s keen to further develop your skills in Ophthalmology and need to have Registrar experience in this field to be able to apply for the training programme


 


It is requirement of the Medical Council of New Zealand that your qualifications are approved through EPIC. If you have a commitment to working in New Zealand, it is highly recommended that you start this process as soon as possible to allow your subsequent registration to be undertaken in a timely fashion.
