If you are passionate about working together to make a meaningful impact in communities across Aotearoa and have the skills and experience to excel in this role, we invite you to join our team at the National Office of Citizens Advice Bureau New Zealand | Ngā Pou Whakawhirinaki o Aotearoa (CABNZ).

About the role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi

As the Organisational Support and Capability Advisor you will play a crucial role supporting our 80 CABs throughout Aotearoa. You will help CABs to meet their legal and constitutional obligations and to operate effectively, sustainably and at their best.

Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks, with a focus on supporting those involved in governance and management roles across the organisation. You will provide guidance on volunteer and staff management, organisational policies, funding, health and safety, and service development.

This role requires strong organisational and self-management skills, excellent people-skills and the ability to communicate effectively, a problem-solving approach, and a commitment to supporting CABs across Aotearoa.

Skills & Experience | Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako

We would love to find someone who has the following skills and experience:

  • Volunteer management: Experience managing or supporting volunteers, with a good understanding of effective strategies for engaging and valuing volunteers, and creative approaches to recruitment, retention and recognition of volunteers.
  • Human resources experience: Demonstrated experience in providing human resources support, including recruitment, training, and performance management, ideally within a non-profit or community-focused organisation.
  • Policy and operational advice: Experience in the development, review, and interpretation of policies and guidelines and providing accurate advice based on these.
  • NGO experience: Previous experience working within a non-governmental organisation, with knowledge of funding challenges and opportunities, and familiarity with relevant legislation and regulations, including the Incorporated Societies Act 2022 and Charities Act 2005.
  • Service-focused: A genuine passion for supporting community organisations and a commitment to delivering high-quality service to CABs, to then enable CABs to provide a high-quality service to our clients.
  • Committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi: Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and their application within the context of service delivery, ensuring equitable and culturally responsive support.

CABNZ supports flexible working, job sharing and part time work. We are open to enabling the best candidate to work for us.
