Job Description - Partner Content Editor & Strategy Lead

THE OPPORTUNITY:

We’re looking for a dynamic and strategic commercial content expert to elevate our content offering across leading news brands such as NZ Herald and BusinessDesk, positioning NZME as a media partner of choice.

You'll be the driving force behind maximizing revenue from paid partner content. Your role will work closely with our frontline Commercial sales team, , including campaign strategy design and development, implementation and post-campaign analysis, ensuring exceptional commercial outcomes for both clients and audiences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sales Support & Strategy:

  • Assist the Commercial sales team to develop relevant, strategic news and business lead content recommendations that meet client, budget and audience objectives.
  • Be a crucial part of the ideation phase of campaigns and projects, attending internal ideation and planning meetings and pitch sessions as required.
  • Work with a strategic and solutions-focussed outlook, with revenue goals top of mind.

Campaign Management:

  • Managing full implementation and content production process including oversight of writer/collaborator assignment, internal editorial checks, client approvals, and campaign stakeholder management to meet client objectives and campaign timelines.
  • Maintain comprehensive reports on production admin and costs,.

Product Development & Innovation:

  • Stay ahead of local and global industry trends and competitor offerings to drive continuous improvement in our partner content products.
  • Collaborate with relevant internal teams to propose and implement product changes and additions.

Editing and quality control:

  • Review all commercial content to ensure the material meets the client brief before liaising on the approval process.
  • Ensure NZME editorial policies and standards, and ASA standards are met.

Cross-department and cross-platform collaboration:

  • Utilise the full suite of NZME content products predominantly across digital, print, social and audio, translating client content goals to align with the relevant platform.
  • Be the go-to person for partner content, working with multiple stakeholders across departments and upskilling Commercial teams across the country.
  • Maintain a commitment to client and customer service, delivering a best-in-class experience.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Essential: 5+ years of editorial content experience in print and digital publishing with social amplification.
  • Preferred: Previous experience in commercial partner content, such as corporate or marketing-based PR.
  • Strong financial management experience.
  • Superb commercial acumen and exceptional knowledge on monetising content.
  • Sound understanding of all media, advertising, marketing and social media, gained from significant experience in successful cross-channel teams.
  • Successful track record in achieving sustained revenue growth from challenging and or new channels/products.
  • Understanding of print and digital platforms, what drives performance and audience metrics.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships.
  • A collaborative team player who welcomes input and strives for win/win outcomes.
