Job Description - Pastoral Supervisors

Rangi Ruru Girls’ School is a high achieving and innovative school for young women.  It caters for day and boarding students from Year 7 to Year 13.

Be Part of Something New
Pastoral and support roles at Te Whare Aroha o Rangi Ruru, Christchurch

Te Whare Aroha o Rangi Ruru is home to around 135 boarders during term time, and our house runs 24/7. Our pastoral team are the people boarders turn to every day, from the morning rush out the door to the quiet check-in at the end of the night. We believe great boarding is built on relationships: every girl should be known, cared for, and supported to grow in confidence and independence.

2027 is an exciting year for us. We’re welcoming Year 7 and 8 boarders back into our community through Moerangi House, a programme designed especially for younger girls starting their boarding journey. To get this right, we’re growing our team. We’re also using this moment to strengthen pastoral care across the whole house and build our in-house programmes, so that every boarder from Year 7 to Year 13 benefits.

That’s why we’re recruiting for several roles at once. Whether you’re with us overnight, in the evenings, at weekends or keeping the house running during the week, you’ll be part of one team with a shared purpose: making Rangi Ruru boarding a safe, inclusive and positive for everyone.

Who we’re looking for

We want warm, steady and reliable people who enjoy young people and understand that the small moments matter: a good-night check-in, a calm voice at 2am, a tidy and welcoming space and most importantly a place of belonging. You don’t have to have worked in boarding before. What matters is that you care, you’re dependable, and you want to be part of a team that takes wellbeing seriously.
