Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

We’re looking for an energetic and proactive People and Capability Advisor to join our vibrant team. In this role, you will partner directly with people leaders across the organisation, building strong relationships and earning trust with stakeholders. You’ll be valued for your sound advice, practical approach and working knowledge of employment law to achieve and deliver best practice people solutions.

You’ll be part of a team who love what we do at Hōhepa; a team driven by our purpose to make a positive difference in people’s lives. Supported by the wider People and Capability team, there is plenty of space for collaboration and innovation. This is a dynamic role that offers variety and challenge, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide advice and guidance across core HR functions including employment relations, employee experience, change management, performance management, remuneration, wellbeing, reporting, and capability.

• Partner with managers to proactively manage and resolve employment relationship matters.

• Support leaders to understand and manage people risks, ensuring compliance with Hōhepa’s policies and legal requirements.

• Support recruitment across all stages of the lifecycle, playing an active role in attracting and selecting great people who align with our values and culture.

• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of people-related practices and projects.

• Cultivate a culture of engagement and wellbeing, including supporting the employee engagement survey and performance processes.

• Maintain our HRIS (BambooHR), employee records and documentation.

This role is 32 - 40
hours per week, and we’re open to discussing flexible employment practices.

Mō Koe | About You

You’ll bring:

• A tertiary qualification in human resources, business or social sciences, or equivalent experience and knowledge.


• At least 4 years’ experience in a generalist HR role, with proven experience in an Advisory role.

• Strong working knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation.

• Demonstrated experience in leading employment relations cases.


• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence in advising and supporting people leaders.

• A proactive, naturally positive approach and open communication style.


• A desire to grow your career in an environment that encourages development and innovation.

• Energy, resilience and a creative mindset.
