Job Description - Pharmacy Technician

Totem is a network of 26 individually operated pharmacies, working towards similar goals, with the same ideologies at the core of our practice.

We are looking for a Pharmacy Technicians to be a part of our productive dispensary teams at Unichem Glendene Pharmacy and Unichem Waiora Pharmacy.

We are after a Pharmacy Technician who's conscientious with a passion for helping our customers. Here is great place for you to start!

The role will involve:

  • Variety of tasks in both dispensary and retail
  • Processing and dispensing prescription
  • Stock management
  • Compliance packing
  • Assist pharmacist with professional service e.g. vaccinations
  • Liaising with other health professionals

Qualifications and Experience

  • Has working experience in dispensary or Suitably Qualified, with a National Certificate in Pharmacy (Technician), or the New Zealand Certificate in Pharmacy (Pharmacy Technician) Level 4 or 5 or the New Zealand Certificate in Pharmacy (Specialist Technician) Level 6)
  • Pharmacy students, newly qualified and studying technicians are welcome to apply!
  • Experience with Toniq Dispensary Software would be an advantage
  • Flexible with schedules
  • Desire to work towards being a PACT and VHW.
  • Excellent communicator and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build strong relationships within the Team
  • Approachable, personable, confident, presentable and physically fit

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe and effective delivery of medicines and pharmacy services to customer under supervision from a pharmacist that includes medicine compliance packing and labelling.
  • Supports pharmacist in the supply and delivery of medicines 
  • Prescriptions receiving, recording of orders and preparation. Follow up orders, deliver and check the items are filled correctly.
  • Maintain an efficient stock holding linked to stock turn and sales. Complete stocktakes on an ongoing basis.
  • Make certain that medications and medical supplies were properly stored – correct temperature of the fridge must be monitored.
  • Operates and spot-check equipment and machine maintenance in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications to ensure the best condition and to minimize breakdowns. Assist manufacturers to set-up equipment.
  • Ensure that the general area is kept in a clean and tidy manner for ease of workflow and appearance.

We are also in search of a PHARMACY RETAIL MANAGER who has initiative, passion for sales, has high level of customer service and superb ability to upsell our retail products!

You will help us grow our retail business, and your Pharmacy experience could very well influence and uncover even more opportunities.

If you are an experienced Pharmacy Retail Manager with Retail Toniq experience, this could be the opportunity that will excite you.

It goes without saying you must be able to deliver a top notch customer experience.  You must be comfortable in recommending both Natural Health and OTC products within those categories.  You must have experience in merchandising, stock maintenance, ordering, and inwards goods. 

It is important that you understand working with store standards and are able to execute promotional activity to a high standard.

This is a full time position and sought after hours. Pharmacy is open from 7 days in a week 8am-8pm so the potential candidate will be required to be flexible.
