• Ship code to production in regular cadence: We do this with a minimal defect rate, prioritising short feedback cycles over project plans and deadlines.

• Work on innovative and up to date tech stacks: Our tech stacks include: React SPA with MobX and Typescript over a C# dotnet core backends-for-frontends WebAPI, hosted in Azure. In Azure we use App Services, SQL, Functions, Storage, Event Grid and Search. 
• Contribute to our product: We work with Product Management and Design from the very beginning to make sure we’re delivering value to our customers and making a meaningful impact.
• Supports a coaching culture: Together, we support one another to level up
• Continuously improve: We are relentless about getting better and improving our processes, tooling and tech stack.

As a Platform Engineering lead your role will require leading a mixed team of Site Reliability and Software Engineers. Our philosophy is that every leader should have time to get their hands dirty so we limit team size. You will bring the following:

• Strong expertise in: Azure or cloud-native architecture is preferable, thought not required.
• Team leadership: Passion for building a healthy, outcome-focused engineering team.
• People management: solid experience managing fellow engineers in Site Reliability or Software Engineer roles, including setting goals and having performance conversations, and ability to align challenges with growth opportunities for team members.
• Design to automate: experience with CI/CD tooling such as GitHub and Octopus, and a track record of building out and streamlining build and deployment processes in a cloud-native SaaS software system.
• Collaborative working style: You appreciate working in an agile environment. You’ll be able to work with engineers of all skill levels and to coach and mentor your teammates.
• Strong communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail, and an ability to discuss technical problems and solutions with both technical and non-technical people.
• Big picture thinking: The ability to think holistically about the impact of your work and your decisions on the whole business, not just the engineering team.
• Prioritization: Ability to break large pieces of work into small, shippable units of value, collaborating to come up with simple, evolvable architectures that prioritise learning over perfection.
• Care for the Product lifecycle as a whole: An interest in scalability, usability, security, cloud platforms, privacy & ethics, and/or our industry: loss prevention / safer communities / crime prevention.

• Competitive salary range: This will depend on the level of experience. We have scoped this role as an PL4 with a hiring salary range of $157,000 - $195,000.
