This is a fabulous opportunity to build your policy career while contributing to work that improves health outcomes for New Zealanders. As a Policy Analyst, you’ll support the development of high quality, evidence-based policy advice, working collaboratively across the Ministry and wider health sector.

• Shape policy that improves outcomes for children and young people, including maternity care and the first 2,000 days
• Lead cross-agency work on complex issues such as child protection and responses to abuse in care
• Provide strategic advice across priority areas, including women’s health
• Build strong relationships across the Ministry and sector to drive delivery
• Champion better outcomes for Māori, embedding Te Tiriti in policy and practice
• Contribute to high-impact outputs, including Cabinet papers and Ministerial briefings
• Grow your expertise in government processes through OIAs and Ministerial correspondence

• Strong analytical capability to navigate complex issues and make sound judgements
• Clear and confident communicator, able to tailor messages for diverse audiences
• Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and maintain discretion
• Proven ability to build and sustain effective working relationships
• Relevant qualification or equivalent experience aligned to policy or public sector work
• Understanding of Te Ao Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and health equity, and how these apply in practice
