Each year the Trust distributes a percentage of its profits generated from a global investment portfolio as grants to help fund Waikato groups and projects that increase community vibrancy, resilience and participation. In the 2023 financial year, the Trust approved over $16 million in grants helping more than 500 community organisations and projects achieve transformative outcomes for the regions.

The Trust is informed by its 10-year strategic plan and guided by its Ngaa Pou Rautaki (Strategic Pou), covering Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Equity, Sustainability and Impact.

Trust Waikato has a staff of ten, all specialists in their area of accountability working closely together as a team and is governed by a Board of 13 trustees appointed by the Minister of Finance.

The role:

The Trust is seeking a Pou Aawhina – Community Response Advisor:

  • To take ownership of implementing Trust Waikato’s Community Response grants processes and policies for grants of $20,000 or less. 
  • To manage all Community Response grants recommendations valued at $20,000 or less.
  • To build community relationships by providing advice to applicants and interested organisations using digital channels.
  • To ensure that the community response grant administration and processes are efficient and maximise the opportunities provided through working in the digital environment.
