Job Description - Primary Mental Health Coordinator

The role:
Reporting to the Primary Mental Health Lead, the Primary Mental Health Coordinator is a key role responsible for direct clinic service delivery and programme management responsibilities across NHC primary mental health initiatives (PMHIs). They will directly support the Primary Mental Health Lead in the development and implementation of PMHIs. 

The role will include but is not limited to:

  • Assisting the Primary Mental Health Lead to prepare service delivery plans that align with service specifications and contractual requirements 
  • Ensures that PMH services are efficiently and effectively delivered in practices according to the agreed service specifications
  • Works with providers to unsure robust high quality service delivery in PMH.
  • Assist the PMH Lead to develop and implement new programmes as agreed and funded by Te Whatu Ora
  • Develop and maintains reporting and information systems to undertake data analysis and meet reporting requirements

About you:
Ideally you will be a highly organized, energetic person who is used to working in fast moving and dynamic environments. You will have excellent prioritization and communication skills, and a passion for making a difference to those communities who are experiencing inequitable health outcomes.

Desired experience:

  • A post-graduate qualification enabling therapeutic work with clients e.g. psychology, counselling, social work, nursing, occupational therapy
  • Registered health professional with current practicing certificate e.g. psychologist, nurse, occupational therapist, social worker 
  • Training in and experience working within evidence-based therapeutic models 
  • Proven experience in working with adult clients and their whanau in a clinical setting 
  • Strong primary health experience
  • Full, clean drivers license
  • Excellent communication skills and time management skills
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach with an ability to relate to diverse groups
