Primary or Senior Electronic Forensic Investigator– Auckland or Wellington  


The Serious Fraud Office (SFO) is a highly specialised government department whose mission is to disrupt and deter serious complex fraud through prevention, investigation, and prosecution. We take pride in the work we do to keep New Zealand safe from fraud and corruption 


We employ a talented team of lawyers, forensic accountants, investigators, and electronic forensic, counter fraud and policy experts to do just that and, importantly, we have a small corporate services team that supports our operational teams. Numbering eighty, we are a cohesive team with a strong sense of justice and a vibrant culture. 


 


About the role 


The SFO seeks an experienced Electronic Forensic Investigator to join our Commercial Bay, Auckland CBD team. Although our preferred location is Auckland, we are open to suitable candidates from Wellington as well. 


 


In this role you will work under the supervision of the Principal Electronic Forensic Investigator, and within a multidisciplinary team, to deliver electronic forensic services to assist the SFO with the investigation and prosecution of serious and complex financial crimes. You will ensure the acquisition, preservation, analysis, and presentation of electronic data as evidence, be responsible for the efficient analysis of the evidence, and prepare and write comprehensive forensic examination reports. Collaboratively, you will continuously improve the capability of the Electronic Forensic Unit (both hardware and software) to ensure that the SFO is operating international best practice. You will follow SFO’s operating procedures in the forensic acquisition, backup, examination, and reporting on electronic devices. You will develop professional credibility through continuous improvement of skills and knowledge in the electronic forensic arena, enabling you to act as an expert witness in Court on the subject of electronic forensics. 


 


About you 


We welcome individuals with diverse experiences and abilities. To be successful in this role you will have proven technical expertise in electronic forensic tools and methodology. You have in-depth knowledge of forensic, e-Discovery and SQLite tools such asRelativity, Cellebrite, Axiom, X-Ways, Forensic Explorer, Intellaand others. Advanced skills in social media and cloud investigations, desktop, laptop, and mobile device forensic analysis are . You will have problem solving and decision-making capabilities, including the ability to identify problems, manage or mitigate risks and implement innovative solutions that take immediate as well as longer term consequences into account. You must be able to obtain and maintain any required Security Clearance, including Top Secret clearance.
