Job Description - Principal Civil Engineer

We seek a Principal Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team in Hamilton. Our team is committed to delivering innovative and sustainable solutions to complex engineering projects. With T+T, you will work with excellent clients and our multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and planners throughout the project's life—from concept design and consenting to tender and construction. You will also see your designs built. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Inspire:  Manage and lead various exciting projects encompassing all aspects of civil infrastructure design.
  • Team Leadership:  Opportunity to build and oversee a team to deliver complex civil infrastructure projects successfully.
  • Client Engagement:  Drive business development efforts and cultivate strong client relationships.
  • Project Management:  Implement and execute project controls, including financial tracking, earned value reporting, programming, and progress tracking. Develop and manage project-specific processes and controls to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Design Delivery:  Manage comprehensive design packages for transport, energy, waste, commercial, and water infrastructure projects.
  • Quality and Performance:  Ensure projects are delivered to the highest standards regarding quality, risk management, programme adherence, and financial performance.
  • Technical Leadership:  Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and support for the development of other staff members.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Coordination:  Interface and coordinate with disciplines such as geology, hydrology, structural and geotechnical engineering, and contaminated land management.

  • Education:  BE (Hons) or MEng in Civil Engineering.
  • Certification:  Chartered Civil Engineer (CPEng or IStructE).
  • Experience:  15+ years in structural design, focusing on bridges, tunnels, retaining, and marine structures.
  • Skills:  Strong analytical and design skills; expert witness or insurance experience.
  • Approach:  Emphasis on simple, robust solutions to complex issues.
  • Management:  Project management and client relationship management skills.
  • Consulting:  Senior-level consulting experience.
  • Teamwork:  Proven ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams and deliver quality products on time.
  • Leadership:  Effective delegation and mentoring of junior engineers.
  • Exposure to a variety of professional experts and projects; T+T is involved in many large-scale alliance projects, as well as smaller community-focused projects
