Principal Underwriter - with Growth Opportunities

This is an exceptional opportunity for a Principal Underwriter to join our highly skilled Underwriting team and make a significant impact. 

The Opportunity

Diverging from the customary Principal Underwriter role, this position intricately focuses on solidifying our market standing, you will be responsible for offering a market-leading underwriting service to advisers and customers alike. You will use your proven underwriting knowledge to foster strong relationships with advisers, often face to face. Your proactive approach will see you actively looking for solutions to help our customers protect their New Zealand way of life. This is a permanent, full-time role, that may require travel. Flexible working arrangements may be available.

Key day to day responsibilities include:

• Taking ownership and accountability of underwriting applications through to decisions 
• Building and maintaining strong working relationships with advisers, strategic partners and their teams
• Championing customer experience through creative solutioning, telephone underwriting, customer communication, adviser interaction and internal stakeholder engagement
• Sharing your knowledge and experience with the wider team through coaching as required.

About You

You will bring proven experience in the life insurance industry as a Senior Underwriter, with strong technical proficiency. You will be able to demonstrate the strong relationships you’ve cultivated in the industry to date and will be passionate about strengthening these and invigorating new relationships. Able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, you’ll be adaptable and bring a positive attitude to complex problems, solving for them with balanced, commercial solutions. You’ll be an exceptional communicator and build strong, collaborative relationships with ease. You’ll have the ability to adapt to various situations and are comfortable to share your insights and expertise in various forums, whether it be one to one, in small groups or at larger gatherings.
