Priority One is Tauranga Moana’s business membership funded economic development organisation focused on ensuring the region is a destination of choice for talented, skilled and creative people and the businesses that need them.  Our goal is to develop a sustainable economy that delivers improved prosperity for everyone in the community.

Our skills and employment hub (Ara Rau) helps connect jobseekers, employers, training providers and employment services in the region so that local people have a tailored pathway into employment.  The hub has a particular focus on supporting those not currently in education, training or employment.   

Our Employment Mentor will engage with rangatahi not in education, employment or training (NEET) and a range of job seekers to support their pathway into sustainable employment.  A key aspect of this role is to work with community partners to identify and support individuals seeking employment, training and upskilling.  

The ideal applicant will:

• have experience in working with youth and a diverse community
• knowledge of business practice and challenges
• knowledge of local iwi and culturally responsive practice
• highly developed organisational and time management skills
• have proven experience in education/recruitment, and/or a business-related field.
