Job Description - Procurement & Planning Specialist

Bodco Dairy is a rapidly growing manufacturer of dairy nutritional products based at Pukete, Hamilton.

As a specialist in procurement, you will be tasked with supporting the Supply Chain function by managing company processes, maintaining supplier relations, management of inventory levels and assisting with production planning in a food manufacturing environment.

Your professionalism and attention to detail will ensure the smooth flow of operations at Bodco.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that purchasing strategies and processes are in place to meet business and operational needs. 
  • Maintain supplier relationships, oversee supplier contracts, evaluate, and measure supplier effectiveness, performance, and compliance.  
  • Monitoring inventory levels and replenishing stock as needed. Tracking inbound and outbound orders to prevent overstocking and out-of-stock situations.
  • Generating weekly / monthly reports for inventory optimisation, purchasing and supply chain activities.   
  • Management of aged inventory levels.
  • ADHOC Admin as required by the business.

Key Skills Required for this Role Include:

  • Have strong administrative, organisational and time management skills. 
  • A Self-motivated natural problem solver who can adapt to any situation.
  • Always delivers on deadlines and are calm under pressure. 
  • Care about the detail and accuracy required in performing detailed tasks. 
  • Keen to follow processes that achieve consistent results and will suggest improvements when required.
  • Strong aptitude using computer systems such as SAP or Excel.   
  • Able to engage and communicate with people across the wider business and suppliers both in oral and written medium. 
  • An understanding of Mandarin would be an advantage but not a requirement.

Background and Qualifications:

  • 2+ year’s experience in procurement and inventory control, preferably from a dairy/food manufacturing environment. 
  • Tertiary or equivalent qualification in Supply Chain Management / Food Technology or related disciplines. 
  • Experience with import / export requirements.
  • Bi-lingual in Mandarin would be a nice to have.
