We are currently seeking a highly motivated Produce Trader Intern (Trainee Trader) to join our Christchurch branch. Please note this role requires early morning starts and availability across weekends (as/when necessary). Reporting to the Christchurch Trading Manager, this role will see you: 

About the role

In this role you will:

• engage in a robust trading mentorship programme, working alongside our seasoned Traders, gaining invaluable skills, market knowledge and trading experience. 
• actively utilise and build on your growing market knowledge to seek out business growth avenues within the South Island region.
• support day to day management of agreed customer and supplier accounts.
• support the development of current and new products and categories.
• provide high levels of service and support to customers and suppliers.
• strive to meet and exceed set margin targets.
• manage all responsibilities with a high level of integrity, honesty and trust.

About the person

You have:

• previous sales and/or account management experience and knowledge.
• strong verbal and written command of the English language.
• sales/business related qualification (ideal but necessary)
• knowledge of the produce industry (ideal but necessary)
• current and full New Zealand driver’s license.

You are:

• honest, reliable and keen to learn and make your mark.
• a proactive and quick leaner.
• confident to pick up the phone and build rapport with stakeholders.
• capable of building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
• a team player who likes having a laugh every now and then.
