Job Description - Product Manager - B2B eCommerce

We’re looking for a Product Manager to join our Ecommerce domain on a fixed-term basis, covering a 14-month period of parental leave.

BidOne builds the digital platforms that power Bidfood businesses globally. A homegrown story with humble beginnings, our technology now powers a multi-billion dollar business across 20+ countries. Chefs, hospitality managers, sales teams and suppliers rely on our tools to place orders, manage relationships, plan menus, and run their businesses smoothly.

Right now, we’re in the middle of rebuilding that platform from the ground up – and this role sits right at the heart of it. If you enjoy structured problem solving, working closely with designers and engineers, and getting into the detail of how products actually work, this is a genuinely compelling opportunity.

The role

As a Product Manager in our Ecommerce domain, your focus will be on the experience side of the rebuild – taking features from our existing platform, interrogating how and why they work, and translating that thinking into well-defined requirements for the new solution. You won’t be building from scratch; you’ll be bringing structure and clarity to something that already exists, which takes a particular kind of analytical thinking and craft.

You’ll work as a close unit with a Senior Product Designer – together you define the experience delivered by the front end squad you lead. You’ll partner closely with Product Owners whose platform squads provide the services and technical underpinnings to bring it to life.

What you’ll do:

  • Take features from the existing platform through a structured rescoping process – understanding the problem they solve, the jobs they support, and how they should be rebuilt for the new solution

  • Write clear, well-considered requirements that give engineering and design teams what they need to deliver effectively

  • Work within an established template and process, applying it consistently and self-sufficiently across a large feature set

  • Collaborate closely with Senior Product Designers, Product Owners, and engineering teams to keep delivery moving

  • Contribute to roadmap and prioritisation discussions, flagging risks or issues as they emerge

  • Work in sprints within a fixed-scope programme – the emphasis here is structured execution and delivery rigour rather than open-ended discovery

  • Given our global customer base, you’ll occasionally join calls outside of standard hours – this is a regular but manageable part of the role

This role sits in the middle of the product management career track at BidOne:
Product Owner > Product Manager > Senior Product Manager > Head of Product

About you

You’re a Product Manager with enough experience to hit the ground running, and enough self-awareness to know when to ask for help. You’re energised by structured work, comfortable working within a defined programme, and take genuine pride in the quality of your documentation and requirements.

You’ll bring:

  • Around 3–4 years’ experience in product management, with a track record of owning delivery outcomes within a defined product area

  • Strong analytical thinking – able to interrogate existing functionality, understand the problems it solves, and translate that into clear requirements

  • The ability to write well-structured requirements that engineering teams can actually work from

  • A practical, grounded approach – you understand the commercial realities of what you’re building and don’t propose things that don’t make sense for the business

  • Comfort working with a template and process rather than building from scratch – self-starting and able to work independently once direction is clear

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, particularly working with designers and engineers

  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, and working in agile delivery environments

You must have the right to work in New Zealand. This role is based in Epsom, Auckland. We work in-office Monday, Tuesday, and Friday – this is a requirement of the role.

Research shows that women and people from under-represented groups are less likely to apply unless they meet every requirement. If you’re excited about this role but don’t meet 100% of the criteria, we want to hear from you!

Reasons to work with us

Working at BidOne means joining a team that values practicality, curiosity, and continuous improvement. You’ll be supported by experienced product leaders and have plenty of room to grow – even within a fixed term.

We offer:

  • Hybrid working with flexibility where we can – in office Monday, Tuesday, and Friday with core hours of 9am–3pm

  • A genuinely interesting fixed-term scope – complex, meaningful work with a clear beginning and end

  • A supportive, friendly culture that values work/life balance, including regular team lunches and outings

  • Competitive salary, subsidised public transport, and other staff benefits

We'll be reviewing applications and reaching out to suitable candidates as they come in — so don't wait to apply.
