Role Overview


The Product Owner role is responsible for leading the translation of 9Spokes’ product roadmap into realisable features that deliver value for users and the 9Spokes business in line with the company vision and strategy.


Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders and connecting the dots between them, the Product owner will focus on the end-to-end product lifecycle including discovery, delivery, market launch and ongoing assessment of value.


 


Key Accountabilities


The following covers the Product Owner key accountabilities; however, this is not an exhaustive list and the role will include additional responsibilities:



  • Gain a deep understanding of customer problems and opportunities, identify product gaps and contribute new ideas for the product roadmap to improve user engagement and drive growth.

  • Research and understand the banking and fintech domain to create compelling and competitive product outcomes for customers and prospects.

  • Balance trade-offs between customer requests and sales opportunities to prioritise for highest value impact to 9Spokes.

  • Balance trade-offs between UX design and engineering teams to clearly define the scope for product development and iteration.

  • Champion user centric design backed by data and research.

  • Manage the backlog of bugs, features and improvements.

  • Work closely with engineering teams, ensuring that product priorities and requirements are clearly defined and understood.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to launch features to market, acting as the glue between business and technology.

  • Assist customer and delivery teams in triaging bugs and managing through to resolution.

  • Assist internal teams with quality assurance.


 


Security Responsibilities


All 9Spokes staff have basic information security responsibilities that relate to the physical and virtual safety and security of 9Spokes-controlled information and must comply with the associated company policies and procedures.  



As a 9Spokes employee you will be required to:



  • Follow the 9Spokes policies and procedures applicable to your job function.

  • Understand information security, including how to handle information, reporting risks and/or breaches, and how to support colleagues to do the same.


 


Qualifications, Key Skills, Experience and Knowledge


The successful candidate must demonstrate experience and working knowledge across the following areas:



  • Product Ownership / Management experience in an agile environment. Experience in a product adjacent role e.g. business analysis, would also be considered.

  • Experience with B2B and/or white-label products is desirable but not mandatory.

  • A solid and proven background in managing products throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Facilitation and stakeholder management skills – Ability to collaborate, lead and promote innovation.

  • Strong research skills. Critical thinking, with the ability to articulate ideas to a wide range of stakeholders.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done.

  • Knowledge of Lean and Agile principals is important, but adaptability over dogma.

  • A history and/or willingness to experiment with AI tools (Cursor, Claude Code, or similar) to better work alongside key stakeholders in engineering, design, or go-to-market.

  • Experience launching new products to market is a bonus but not essential.

  • Familiarity with product design and delivery tools such as Figma, Azure DevOps and Jira.

  • Strong presentation and communication skills (written, verbal, spoken and understanding), articulate and well written.

  • Strong organisational, prioritisation and time-management skills.
