Job Description - Production Improvement Manager

Fresh Meats NZ is a boutique Napier based Lamb Processing site manufacturing top quality products destined for both domestic and international markets and we are on the lookout for a Production Improvement Manager. 

 

About the role:

As a Production Improvement Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the day to-day processing operations at Fresh Meats NZ. To achieve and where possible exceed Key Performance Standards documented in the position description. 

Your impact is felt by improving the plant's revenue and financial performance by managing costs and increasing cash generation activities across your location. The Production Improvement Manager is expected to lead the primary and secondary processing teams in an environment that promotes engagement and continuous process improvement by identifying process improvement opportunities and implementing strategies to optimise production. 

The Production Improvement Manager shall be actively involved with the implementation of Food Safety, Animal Welfare, and Health and Safety disciplines, and the adherence to all regulatory standards, and shall promote the Fresh Meats values and culture.

The key influencing areas of this role are to:

  • Build and lead the Processing Team’s short and long-term plans in conjunction with the Senior Leadership Team,
  • Drive commercial performance; understand profitability levers and risks within the processing areas and making changes as necessary to achieve objectives,
  • Drive operational efficiencies to optimise revenue, maximize income and reduce costs to meet KPIs.
  • Provide proactive and strategically aligned leadership to develop self-sufficient teams and establish and grow the site's culture.
  • Drive activity that promotes Fresh Meats as leading in both Health & Safety and Compliance areas.
  • Work closely with engineering team to support the asset management framework, considering the longer-term capital requirements
  • Lead process improvement and attainment of excellence through the IFL-FM's "High Performing Work System" Business Excellence programme
  • Continuously improve team member capabilities at all levels.
