About the role:

In this integral position, your main goal will be to plan, organise and control production to ensure that goods are produced efficiently, on time and within budget at our Hamilton Plant. You will implement and oversee the production schedule and monitor daily output.  You will have close working relationships with a variety of people, including the production planner, who you will review and adjust the production schedule with.  As the afternoon Production Team Lead, you will be working closely with the morning Production Team Lead as there is a 4 hour crossover period where each of your teams will be active.  Starting at 10.30am and finishing at 8pm you will have mornings to yourself.  Friday’s you are only required to work four hours, or there is an option to work 10am to 8.30pm Monday to Thursday, and have Friday’s off!

What you will do:

  • Manage a small team of production associates
  • Organise weekly rosters and ensure labour coverage of production
  • Oversee accurate log of material usage and requirements.
  • Assist in making decisions about equipment use, maintenance, modification and procurement
  • ensure full compliance with the stated policies and procedures of Ecolab
  • adhere to company and customer OHS policies, procedures and rules and follow safe work practices
  • work with the quality department to implement and enforce quality control and tracking programs to meet quality objectives
  • Identify and support the implementation of improvements to the production process
  • monitor and review the performance of staff and organize necessary interventions for improvement with the production manager
  • identify best practice and implement cost control initiatives where appropriate
  • ensure efficient collaboration and co-ordination between relevant departments including procurement, distribution and management

To be successful, you will ideally have:

  • Experience in production and manufacturing processes and techniques -perhaps be degree qualified
  • Knowledge of quality systems and standards
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards and compliance
  • Knowledge of process improvement techniques, such as lean and 5S.
  • Excellent time management and planning skills
  • Good attention to detail, consistent follow through and reliable documentation skills.
  • Be a great communicator
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
