Your role at Syft

Who you report to: Production Team Lead 

Your key stakeholders: Operations Manager, Global Service & Support Team, Supply Chain Team, and the wider Production Team.  

Role purpose: The Production Technician works as part of the production team to ensure that our customers are provided with high-quality instruments in an efficient and timely manner. Due to the nature of our production process, each phase (team) of production’s work builds upon the work of the prior phase to build out the finished project. Production is a united department, and the quality of your work impacts everyone. Attention to detail, the drive to complete tasks entirely and high standards of workmanship are perquisites of this role. 

  

Typical responsibilities in the role:  

We are not a traditional company, and as such we do not have an exhaustive list of every task that you will ever reasonably be asked to perform. We have hired you as an individual, not to tick boxes so your daily to do list will adapt and change overtime. Core responsibilities can include:  

  • Calibrating and tuning gas analysis instruments to ensure that each instrument is performing accurately and reliably.  
  • Debugging instruments to determine the cause of performance issues and working with production teams to resolve issues.  
  • Mechanical and/or electrical assembly and testing.  
  • Providing technical assistance and expertise to other teams as and when required.   
  • Participating, as part of the larger production team, in identifying and implementing production/quality improvements.  
  • Assisting other areas of production as required. 
  • Performing quality inspections and monitoring the quality standards of Products  

 

What you will bring to the role:  

You will have a good foundation in technical training in an engineering discipline. Any prior knowledge of electrical, software, chemical and mechanical systems is advantageous. 

 

What we’re looking for:  

  • Extensive experience building, tuning, and fault finding.   
  • The ability to understand complex sub-systems and their interconnections.  
  • A hands-on and methodical approach.   
  • Knowledge of high-tech manufacturing and development processes.   
  • The ability to understand and communicate complex ideas effectively and concisely.  
  • Diploma in electronics/mechatronics/mechanical engineering OR equivalent work experience (i.e boutique manufacturing/low volume manufacturing). 

 

Where you will be based  

This role is based at the Syft head office in Christchurch which houses Engineering, Management, Marketing, Sales, Science, and Support staff. Syft’s International Offices in Asia, Europe and the United States will serve as bases for visits to international markets and subsidiaries, if required.
