Job Description - Programme Administrator - Fixed Term

Te Kareti O Hoani Tapu Te Kaikauwhau i Te Rongopai, the College of St John the Evangelist, established in 1843, is the provincial theological training college for the Anglican Church of Aotearoa, New Zealand, and Polynesia. Due to some staff changes, the College are seeking a Programme Administrator to work within the Academic team, for a fixed term (full time) role until 13 December 2024. 

About the College:

The College currently offers one NZQA-approved programme, the New Zealand Diploma in Christian Studies (Level 5). The College is looking to review and develop the College's educational offerings in 2024 and beyond. There is an expectation from the Church that Hoani Tapu/St John's College will provide theological training and ministry formation that is responsive to the needs of each of our three Tikanga partners (Māori, Pasifika, Pākehā).

Each year, up to 50 students from all three Tikanga of the Anglican Church reside at the College in Auckland and receive training for ministry. Some students, having previously completed theological study, live at the College and enrol with other providers for further training at undergraduate or postgraduate level. As the only provincial training establishment for the Anglican Church, Hoani Tapu/St John's College also provides education by distance through a mix of online and in-person block courses. 

About the Role:

The Programme Administrator is an important role in supporting the Academic team with efficient and effective administrative support.

The College requires someone for 40 hours per week (Negotiable hours, Monday to Friday) who will be based at the St John's campus in Auckland. 

Some key tasks and responsibilities will be to:

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to students and the academic team.
  • Assist in the organization and management of faculty and academic committee meetings.
  • Handle student communications related to academic matters.
  • Maintain accurate academic records and support quality assurance activities.
  • Manage the application and onboarding process for residential and non-residential students.
  • Ensure international student welfare and support programmes are in place.
  • Oversee the administration of academic programmes on MOODLE.
  • Assist with maintaining student information and records in the database.
  • Support the graduation process, including managing results and awards.

About You:

The ideal candidate will have the following experience and skills:

  • Experience in administration (ideally academic/educational).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and information systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • IT Technical Support for Faculty and Staff an advantage (but not essential).
  • Commitment to the ethos and values of the College of St John the Evangelist.
