We are looking for an experienced Programme Leader to take on one of our key Biosecurity roles here at the Taranaki Regional Council.
Mō mātou - About us
Our people love working here because we are an enthusiastic team, with a diverse range of skills and experience, who are all rowing in the same direction. We are all passionate about making a positive difference for our community, both now and for our future generations. What drives us is making Taranaki the best place in Aotearoa, New Zealand to live, play and do business!
Our main office is based right in the centre of the region, right under our maunga (mountain), in Stratford. Living and working here means you have all the big city benefits, along with a rural lifestyle, and quick access to the sea, and breathtaking country.
Mōu - About you
We are looking for a skilled leader who thrives on creating and maintaining a good team environment. This role requires a leader who empowers their direct reports to deliver on Council goals and has a practical approach to leadership. As a Programme Lead within Environment Services this role will be instrumental in driving strategic and operational projects that support our Biosecurity work programme.
This role is based in Stratford but there will be some travel around the region. There will be plenty of opportunities to get out with the Environment Services to gain hands on knowledge. Of course there will be guidance and support from other Programme Leads and the Environment Services Manager also.
You will value and have a passion for our environment. You will enjoy creating a team environment that fosters pride, purpose and productivity. You will need to be versatile, resourceful and have exceptional interpersonal and organisational skills. Excellent communication skills with emotional and cultural intelligence are essential. A relevant tertiary qualification is desirable and demonstrable experience in leadership and change management will be a strong advantage.
We like to set people up for success so you'll be a leading applicant if you also have:
- proven experience in staff management and the ability to build a positive team culture, convey a compelling vision and clear team purpose
- demonstrable reporting ability
- capability to promote and convey programme work to a wide range of stakeholders
- understanding of the Biosecurity Act 1993 and Resource Management Act 1991
- exposure to the facilitation and negotiation of contracts
- confidence to collaborate and nurture great relationships with key stakeholders like rural landowners, iwi, hapū and community groups.
If you can build rapport with your staff, enabling their success and are open to broadening your leadership skillset within the Biosecurity sphere then apply for this role.
