About the role

We are looking for a Programme Manager (Baggage Services) to join our Airport Assets and Future Operations team. This is your opportunity to take full ownership of our current and future baggage handling systems, lead a small team and be a key part of a career defining transformation at Auckland Airport.

 

As the Programme Manager (Baggage Services) you will be our asset owner, responsible for maintaining high performance during major infrastructure projects. You will manage the transition of our baggage handling system from current state through to a future integrated domestic and international BHS and beyond. 

 

This is a critical role within Auckland Airport’s Operations business unit and the company as a whole and requires a strategic thinker with deep knowledge of global best practice(s) whose mission is to ensure the development of and continued resilience of the baggage handling system, services and processes.

 

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Leading further development and implementation of the BHS Development Strategy and roadmap(s).
  • Overall ownership of BHS asset management and service delivery performance.
  • Engaging with and influencing a wide range of stakeholders for the planning, regulation, design, construction, operation, and resilience of the current and future BHS, services and processes.
  • Protecting the safety, security, reliability, and integrity of (in particular) the baggage handling system in both its current and any planned future state, as well as the safety and security of its operators, contractors, customers, and other stakeholders.
  • Leading development of system performance measures and the BHS simulation model to continually review and improve the customer journey, through performance, reliability, and resilience.

To ensure your success in this role, you will need:

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, you will be highly collaborative and able to work well with internal and external stakeholders to drive activity and outcomes
  • Strong relationship management experience, and in particular contract management experience would be desirable. 
  • Good knowledge in and experience of global best practice baggage (or equivalent high-volume systems with advanced process control). Exposure to or experience in large transformational baggage projects would be particularly valuable.
  • A knack for problem solving and ability to adapt and change within a complex and dynamic environment. 
  • Leadership experience will be highly valued as this role will include significant change management, training, and stakeholder management; specifically working with consultants, airlines, ground handlers, internal stakeholders.
