He angitūtanga: The opportunity


 


Auckland Council’s Healthy Waters and Flood Resilience (HW&FR) department has an opportunity for a Project Manager (known internally as a Healthy Waters Specialist) within the Renewal Projects Delivery team. Reporting to the Renewal Projects Delivery Team Manager, you will be responsible for managing the planning, design and construction of a portfolio of stormwater-related infrastructure projects.


 


Day-to-day you will be required to:



  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop project briefs and business cases

  • Procure and manage external suppliers and internal specialists for the design and construction of projects

  • Act as “Client’s Representative” on professional services contracts and “Principal’s Representative” on NZS 3910:2023 construction contracts

  • Manage project risks and provide regular progress reporting to senior management and elected members

  • Enhance council’s reputation by always behaving in a professional and collaborative manner

  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and innovation

  • Work with HW&FR operational and planning staff, other council departments and other members of the council family to achieve great outcomes for Auckland

He kōrero mōu: About you


 


This role requires experience in delivering similar infrastructure projects, preferably in a public sector organisation, excellent stakeholder rapport and good communication skills.


 


Specifically, we are looking for:



  • A bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering or environmental science

  • An industry-recognised project management qualification such as PRINCE2 or Project Management Professional (PMP)

  • Experience in local government or other public-sector client bodies

  • 5+ years’ project management experience in delivering horizontal infrastructure projects
