Mō te tūranga | About the role
Play a pivotal role in shaping the places that support conservation across Aotearoa.
As Property Leasing Specialist, you’ll sit at the heart of DOC’s leased property portfolio—negotiating smart outcomes, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring our people work in safe, fit-for-purpose environments that enable the protection of nature.
This role supports the effective and efficient management of DOC’s leased commercial and residential property portfolio. You’ll lead lease negotiations, manage relationships with landlords and government partners, and provide trusted specialist advice across the organisation. Working closely with Site Leads, Property and Fleet Operations, senior leaders, and external stakeholders, you’ll help ensure DOC’s leased environments are sustainable, compliant, and aligned with strategic and All-of-Government property objectives.
The position will be focussed on:
Lead end-to-end lease management including negotiations, renewals, reviews, expiries, and terminations across DOC’s portfolio
Build and manage strong relationships with landlords, government agencies, and partners, including co-location agreements and MOUs
Provide specialist lease advice and risk-based insights to internal stakeholders and senior leaders, translating complex information into clear recommendations
Manage lease financials, datasets, and reporting, ensuring accuracy, budget alignment, and timely issue escalation
Contribute to continuous improvement, policy development, and strategic planning to strengthen DOC’s property leasing practices
