About Canteen Aotearoa
Canteen Aotearoa, a highly regarded national organisation, provides evidence-based support to rangatahi/young people 13-24 years dealing with the enormous challenges that cancer brings, whether dealing with their own diagnosis or that of whānau.
Canteen provides an innovative combination of individual support, peer support programs, and group based psychosocial programs, both face to face and online, for rangatahi affected by cancer across Aotearoa.
Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced, highly skilled, professional, and passionate registered Health or Clinical Psychologist/Social Worker/Counsellor or Occupational Therapist to cover the portfolio of one of our Clinicians beginning Parental Leave in July.
This Psychosocial Clinician role is part of a clinical team including experienced Social Workers, Psychologists, OTs and Youth Workers. The wider team are situated across Aotearoa in Canteens Wellington, Auckland, and Christchurch hubs. The role will be working closely with strong support from the National Manager of Psychosocial Services, Clinical Lead Psychologist and working with a senior Psychosocial Clinician and a Youth Worker locally.
The Psychosocial Clinician is responsible for coordinating and delivering vital psychosocial support to rangatahi living with cancer. This involves the provision of psychosocial assessment, care planning and review processes, one to one therapeutic support and delivering the psychosocial content of Canteen programmes.
The Psychosocial Clinician will also play a crucial service promotion role to hospital and other key stakeholders, to ensure that rangatahi are provided with information about and referral to Canteen at the earliest point in their cancer experience. We are also currently working on our Te Ao Maori strategy for Canteen and would welcome experience this field.
Is This You?
You will have to be registered with a relevant professional body and have a relevant tertiary qualification (Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, or Occupational Therapy). The ideal candidate will have proven experience providing individualised psychosocial assessment and support planning and therapy including experience in utilising assessment measures to assist in understanding the needs of service users.
You will be a confident and clear communicator who is able to liaise with third party stakeholders such as hospital social work teams, oncology staff, and the wider community to ensure they receive up-to-date information about Canteen and our services.
Experience and proficiency in group work facilitation, a current open driver's license, and an ability to obtain a first aid certificate are a must.
*** Due to the nature of Canteen’s work, you will be required to occasionally work weekends and evenings. Advance notice will be given when this is the case, and Canteen does have a Time off in Lieu policy for taking leave as agreed with the supervising manager.
