PTS Ambulance Driver (Casual)

New Zealand Air Ambulance Service (NZAAS) is seeking passionate, dynamic individuals to join our team driving our patient transport service (PTS) vehicle. 

The PTS supports our air ambulance operation in Hawke's Bay, where we currently have the following opportunities:

• Casual part time PTS drivers. 

Due to our service requirements, you must be able to be onsite, ready to go at the Napier Airport base within 25 minutes of being activated. 

Requirements

• Must hold a full clean driver's license and be able to complete a police vetting check.
• You must be willing to complete a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening test. 
• You will need to be able to communicate effectively with other staff both orally and in writing.
• You will need to have a First Aid Certificate Level 2
• You must be able to work and relate to any age group, culture or background.
• You will need to be able to problem solve “on the go”.
• You will need to maintain a level of personal well-being, strength and fitness to enable you to perform any of your tasks safely and proficiently; in order to safely perform all physical requirements of the job.
• Ability to work a rotating roster (this includes weekends and public holidays).
• You will need to be able to communicate effectively with the mission coordination team and medical staff, giving optimal timely support.

We will provide emergency vehicle training to comply with the required unit standards, previous emergency vehicle driving experience is not a requirement.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Complete daily checks on the ambulance and clean and restock the vehicle at the end of every shift.  
• Comply with all road rules while driving and complete any required driving courses.
• Drive the vehicle in a manner that keeps all staff, passengers and other road users safe.
• Whilst rostered on duty, you will be required to remain in immediate telephone contact always; and able to be onsite, ready to go at the Napier airport base within 25 minutes of being activated.
• Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring patients and crew feel comfortable and valued throughout their journey.
• Maintain positive and professional relationships.
• All work must be completed within company Health & Safety guidelines.
