Job Description - Quality Assistant - with Great Benefits

We are in need of a proactive Quality Assistant to join our incredible team at Stepping Stone Trust in Addington, Canterbury.

Fixed Term 3 months (1.0 FTE)

Stepping Stone Trust (SST) is a Charitable Trust that offers a range of community-based support services for adults, youth and families who live in Canterbury and Dunedin.We provide a high standard of care enabling tāngata to live their best lives in supportive and empathetic environments.We provide a high standard of care enabling tāngata to live their best lives in supportive and empathetic environments.

We are seeking a self-motivated individual who are keen to gain experience within the quality assurance, compliance and policy areas on a fixed-term basis for 3 months. You will be working closely with our Quality Manager in researching best practice, drafting policies and procedures, supporting the complaints and auditing processes and sharing agreed information in a professional and engaging manner. 

About The role | Mō Te Tūnga

This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience both within the mental health and NGO sectors that focuses on providing support in a strength-based, recovery and citizenship focused and trauma informed way.

In this role you will:

  • Work closely with the Quality Manager in supporting and providing advice and guidance to kaimahi and managers
  • Contribute to improving and monitoring the organisational audit systems, policies and procedures
  • Support Managers and Team Leaders in their response to incidents and complaints
  • Conduct continual research to ensure that all policies and procedures are compliant with HSWA and Ngā Paerewa Health and Disability Standards
  • Ensure that Service Managers and Team Leaders are fully supported in meeting compliance requirements
  • Keep up to date with Privacy legislation, guidelines and advice.

About you | Mōu

You will:

  • Have a tertiary qualification in Law, Policy or a Bachelor of Arts or other areas of study.
  • Be able to demonstrate clear and logical decision-making.
  • Have critical thinking and research skills that enable you to consider issues objectively within our auditing guidelines.
  • Possess clear, concise and competent written and oral communication skills that can engage.
  • Have a willingness to commit to and support the bicultural journey that Stepping Stone Trust is on as we live out our partnership under Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
  • Kaimahi at all levels in order to effectively share and embed important information.
  • Have a learning mindset that acknowledges the professional needs of team management and the service we provide.
  • Have a caring and compassionate nature with strong skills in building solid, beneficial working relationships with colleagues at all levels.
  • A strong degree of computer literacy where you are confident using computing and cloud-based systems.
  • A full, clean car licence.

Legal acumen and strong knowledge of the Health & Disability Standards, Privacy Law and our obligations are desirable but not essential.
