Mō te tūranga | About the role
This role is centred on delivering the Experiences Outside the Classroom (EOTC) programme for the Aoraki/Mount Cook District, designing and delivering immersive education experiences that bring conservation to life for visiting schools. You’ll coordinate the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of the programme- working closely with schools to develop tailored learning objectives, maintaining accurate records, reporting on milestones, and adapting resources to meet needs.
Alongside the core education programme, you will support wider community and visitor centre functions across the Aoraki/Mount Cook District, contributing to community engagement, customer service, and local conservation outcomes.
Success in this role relies on building strong, trusted relationships across education providers, iwi, community groups, stakeholders, and the district team. You’ll communicate clearly and professionally, manage multiple priorities, and uphold safe working practices.

If you have some of following, we are keen to hear from you:
Strong planning and organisational skills, with experience coordinating programmes or projects.
Ability to build collaborative relationships with teachers, iwi, community groups, stakeholders, and colleagues.
Clear and confident communication skills across speaking, writing, listening, and public engagement.
Ability to evaluate programmes, maintain accurate records, and meet reporting requirements.
Adaptable and proactive, with a focus on continuous improvement and responding effectively to changing needs.
Full New Zealand driver licence.
Desirable:
Experience delivering engaging curriculum aligned to education programmes.

The salary range for this position is $65,070 to $75,981 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory – this includes holding a valid work visa that covers the whole period of employment.
