Job Description - RCR HVAC Estimator - Upper North Island

Our well-established national company is seeking a skilled HVAC Estimator to join our Auckland or Hamilton Branch. The Role:
We want your proven experience in Estimating, Project Management, and HVAC- service industry experience and knowledge. The role will be accountable for design, development, and optimization of HVAC systems. You will need to have experience collaborating with architects, contractors, and other engineers to create efficient and effective HVAC solutions that meet client requirements and comply with local regulations. Your role will involve using advanced design software, conducting load calculations, and selecting appropriate HVAC equipment. You’ll need to be a switched on Engineer. Design and Development: Design HVAC systems, including heating, cooling, ventilation, and air conditioning for various types of buildings and facilities.
Load Calculations: Perform detailed heat load calculations to determine the heating and cooling requirements for different spaces.
Equipment Selection: Specify and select appropriate HVAC equipment, including boilers, chillers, air handling units, and ductwork.
Collaborate with the team to develop accurate pricing and construction methodologies.
Project Management: Manage HVAC design projects from concept to completion, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.
Collaboration: Work closely with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and contractors to integrate HVAC designs into overall building plans.
Energy Efficiency: Develop and implement energy-efficient HVAC designs that reduce environmental impact and operational costs.
Troubleshooting: Provide technical support during installation and commissioning, resolving any design-related issues that arise.
Prepare and submit tenders and quotes for new HVAC/ Refrigeration projects.
Analyse and negotiate project costs and contracts.
Compliance: Ensure all HVAC designs comply with New Zealand building codes, industry standards, and environmental regulations.
Documentation: Prepare detailed design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and installation guidelines.
Skills and Experience:
To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
We require at least 5 years of relevant experience as an HVAC Engineer, Project Manager or HVAC Estimator
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
Proven experience in cost estimation, preferably within the HVAC/ Refrigeration industry.
Strong understanding of HVAC systems, components, and installation processes.
Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., SimPRO, AutoCAD or similar).
Excellent mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Knowledge of New Zealand building codes and industry regulations.
Experience with project management software.
Familiarity with sustainable HVAC technologies and energy-efficient design practices.
Understanding of tendering processes in the New Zealand construction industry.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
