Head Teacher – Redoubt North Kindergarten, Manukau (Full Time Position)

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) in an established and well-resourced multi-cultural Kindergarten in Manukau. The kindergarten caters for children aged 2-5 years old in a mixed age setting from 8.00am – 5.00pm, including term breaks and is licenced for 40 tamariki with a 1:10 teacher to child ratio.
The teaching team promote learning through play in a safe and stimulating environment, which fosters communication and socialisation skills, creative thinking, problem-solving and coping with change and challenges. The inside environment is warm, vibrant and reflects the cultural diversity of kindergarten whānau. They offer a wide variety of opportunities, experiences and resources to empower and grow confident, competent learners
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Head Teacher with experience of pedagogical leadership and centre management to lead this team. Redoubt North Kindergarten is an enviroschool centre – an interest in environmental sustainability would be an advantage.
The successful applicant will:
• have sound knowledge of Te Whāriki and current approaches to teaching and learning, including documenting, planning for and enriching learning.
• demonstrate a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi through pedagogical and relational practices
• have knowledge of and experience in using He Māpuna te Tamaiti and He Kōrerorero
• have a passion for continual improvement and be committed to on-going professional development
• demonstrate good knowledge of the current ECE Regulations and Licencing Criteria, and hold compliance in a high regard
• have strong ICT skills
• be skilled with the financial and operational aspects of managing a successful centre including a sound understanding of funding structures
• demonstrate excellent communication skills and ability to build strong relationships with Tamariki, Whanau, teaching team and the wider community to ensure the centre thrives financially and is a great place to work
Applicants require a minimum Level 7 Diploma or Bachelor of Teaching ECE, current first aid certificate and teacher practicing certificate.
