Registered Nurse - IDS at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Southern, Otago Registered Nurses - Ward 10a Special Needs Unit Intellectual Disability Service Wakari Hospital, Dunedin Salary band - $75,773 - $106,739 p.a prorata + Kiwisaver Permanent, full and part-time positions Great Nursing professional development + exceptional MDT + opportunity to make a difference Easy commute / affordable lifestyle + free on-site parking Ward 10a is a medium secure 12 bed inpatient service for Intellectually Disabled clients, aged 17 to 65 years, whom require assessment and treatment under the Mental Health Act or are subject to the criminal justice system via the Intellectual Disability Compulsory Care and Rehabilitation Act 2003. Mo te turanga - About the role The Intellectual Disability Service (IDS) is part of the Specialist Mental Health Services based at Wakari Hospital, high above Dunedin. OurIDS comprises of three parts, Ward 10a - a 12 bed inpatient service, Helensburgh Cottage - a 4 bed inpatient rehabilitation unit and the Community Liaison team. This role will: collaborate with the multidisciplinary team comprising of Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Mental Health Assistants, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists and Psychiatrists develop your clinical skills on a shift-by-shift basis work alongside patients in a complex environment to meet their identified needs in a multi-disciplinary setting emphasise the delivery of safe client focused care in an ever-changing dynamic setting encompass acute care of patients recently admitted as well as the continuing care and rehabilitation of patients with complex needs collaborate closely with the Charge Nurse Manager, Associate Charge Nurse and the Clinical Nurse Specialist. To be successful in this role you must: have New Zealand Nursing Council registration and have a current APC have current eligibility (citizenship, residency or work visa) to live and work in New Zealand be positive with exceptional communication skills have a passion for supporting people from admission to discharge.
