Registered Nurse - Westport

Raisingtamariki for those who have great support are well resourced and excited towelcome a new addition, while rewarding, is still one of the most difficult experiencesin life. Whanau Awhina Plunket walk alongside caregivers across Aotearoa fromall backgrounds, including those who are experiencing difficult periods orother issues which make their load more complex during an already demandingperiod. It is here where we are most required to make change.
PlunketNurses go far beyond weighing babies. Our duty of care means that issues suchas family harm, substance addiction and high levels of deprivation can and doall co-exist with the clinical aspects of conducting our top to toe physicalassessments.
You will managethe case load within the Westport area , this means you'll engage oncethey are discharged from their midwife (or other LMC) through to their core 7check, which takes place around 2-3. Imagine, literally watching your communitygrow before your eyes!
While youwill be the only nurse in the area, you'll work alongside a Community Karitane,with many community groups established, you'll hold clinics, and conduct homevisits around the Westport area.
Gaining andmaintaining trust with our whanau is perhaps the most important aspect of thisrole. Having the people skills to form connections with parents and caregiversis key to this position. You will come to us with exceptional clinical skills,which will be tested daily as you conduct assessments on from 4 weeks throughto 3 years.
Where weconnect with clients with multiple needs, there will be a number of referralsto be written and sent, so a level of computer literacy is required for therole. Having an understanding of the Westport area will be advantageous.
