Freelance Digital Marketing Strategist

We're looking for an experienced Digital Marketing Strategist (Paid Media + AI) to support a Melbourne-based growth marketing consultancy specialising in performance marketing, brand strategy, and AI-supported marketing solutions.

This is a hands-on, client-facing role focused on managing Google and Meta Ads, owning paid acquisition strategies, and using AI tools and agents to analyse performance, validate recommendations, and implement campaign changes.

Engagement Details

• Type: Freelance / Part-time
• Duration: 6 months
• Commitment: Approximately 15 hours per week
• Location: Australia or New Zealand
• Timezone: AEST-compatible
• Schedule: Hours can be distributed across the week, with agreed availability for client meetings.

Responsibilities

• Manage and optimise Google Ads and Meta/Facebook Ads accounts.

• Develop and implement paid acquisition strategies based on client growth objectives.
• Review and validate recommendations generated by AI agents before implementing campaign changes.
• Analyse campaign performance and identify opportunities for optimisation.
• Advise clients across performance marketing, brand, creative, and growth strategy.
• Build strong client relationships and communicate strategies and recommendations confidently.
• Collaborate with technical specialists across analytics, tracking, Google Merchant Center, and dashboarding.

• Previous experience in performance marketing, paid media or digital acquisition.
• Strong hands-on experience with Google Ads and Meta Ads.
• Experience managing paid media budgets of approximately AUD20K+ per month.
• Strong understanding of performance and brand marketing.
• Strong client-facing and relationship management skills.
• Experience with Claude, Claude Code, Codex, ChatGPT, prompt engineering, or similar AI tools, and comfortable incorporating these tools and agents into marketing workflows.
• Experience with GA4, Google Merchant Centre, tracking and dashboarding is a plus.
