Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Research Operations Coordinator to join The Auckland Bioengineering Institute (ABI), supporting MedTech-IQ Tamaki Makaurau. This position is attached to the hub’s national MedTech Research Translator programme to build capability and seed new commercial opportunities.  This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge medical technology research and innovation in a collaborative, national ecosystem.

You will provide executive, administrative, and operational support to the programme leadership and executive team, directly reporting to the Medtech-iQ Tamaki Makaurau Strategic Partnerships Director.  Your work will span financial reporting, compliance, project reporting, and stakeholder engagement across multiple institutions and sectors. You will also contribute to the greater team’s work around events and initiatives of Medtech-iQ Aotearoa.

Key tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Manage funding processes, including grants and awards administration
  • Coordinate incoming Requests for Proposals and support assessment processes.
  • Schedule and support Board, Advisory and Executive meetings (onsite and online), prepare documents, and assist with budgeting and reporting. This includes assessment meetings.
  • Handle document management, take minutes, and liaise with researchers across New Zealand

This is a full-time fixed term contract for 24 months, 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday). The salary range for this role is a Band E $62,400 - $77,800 per annum depending on experience and qualifications.

This is a fixed term agreement as it is Grant funded, with a start date of September 2025.

The team work on site with the flexibility of working 1 day off site a week upon agreement.

Our ideal candidate will have the following skills and Experience:

  • Skilled in project coordination, financial admin, and grant management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google platforms, and especially Excel
  • Experienced with spreadsheets and numbers
  • Familiar with University of Auckland systems or large organisational processes
  • A strong team player who can also work independently
  • Confident, engaging, and an effective communicator
  • Customer-focused with excellent stakeholder engagement skills
  • Bonus: Familiarity with tools like Monday.com or project management tools
